Downloadable worksheets, quizzes, and other creative challenges have been compiled as part of the seafood industry’s ‘So Much To Sea’ campaign. The new initiative has been labelled ‘School of Fish’, and included in the new material is a competition with a prize for the winner’s school.
Created by Seafood Shetland, its chief executive, Ruth Henderson, said: “We know that many parents are looking for new ways to engage, entertain and educate their children in the current circumstances, so we’ve devised a range of online resources to help them.
“Our industry has so many incredible stories to tell, facts to uncover, and history to discover, and this School of Fish initiative will, we hope, not only prove fun and educational, but will also inspire our young people.
“By setting the various creative challenges in the School of Fish, our aim is for youngsters here and perhaps further afield to understand more about Shetland’s largest economic sector and maybe to become involved in our industry themselves in years to come.”
